Artist Profile - Clare Allen

Clare studied Fine Art at Hull University where she specialising in printmaking. She uses a process similar to etching to produce large drawings on paper, using charcoal, rubber and rag.

‘’I draw from life wherever possible, sometimes sitting in a car, or drawing from a window. I try to capture the feeling of the places I draw, often distorting perspective to encase the view.

I draw places which are meaningful to me, and all of my pictures have a story to tell.’’ Clare lives and works in New Mills in the Peak District.

She has exhibited in London, Liverpool and Holland, as well as in venues across Derbyshire
