Di Metcalfe

I am a lifelong painter, and studied Art at Macclesfield College as a mature student a few years ago. I gave up my first career in Cargo Insurance to concentrate on my painting at the end of 2010.

I rarely start work with a plan or expectations, preferring to surround myself with photographs taken & sketches made, plus a random selection of paints, inks, & tools, then set off with an open mind.

As a semi abstract landscape painter looking to create something ‘different’, I am greatly inspired by the Cornish Artist Kurt Jackson, whose view is ‘if you know how to make a painting, there is no point doing it’.
