In my paintings I try to capture the feeling and emotion of a particular place or time. The rich colours are strongly influenced by my love of Persian miniatures with their beautiful patterns and flattened perspective. Traditional textiles, particularly those from India, are also a constant source of inspiration. Some of my work depicts everyday objects, things that have been passed down through generations. I am intrigued by the energy that they hold and the invisible threads that connect us to the past, I mostly use the monoprint process which allows great freedom in the expressive marks that come from painting directly onto the printing plate before transferring the image onto paper using an etching press.

I also produce collagraphs and linocuts and have recently been experimenting with carborundum printmaking.
