His favourite subject matter is our natural environment and the elemental forces, represented in impressionistic or abstract modes, informed by the magical effects of light. Using oils and watercolors, Michael develops the great English and European traditions of landscape and seascape painting, influenced by painters such as Turner and Cezanne, Howard Hodgkin and Mark Rothko.

An experienced and sympathetic tutor, he teaches from his home studio in Cheshire.
