Tina Perry
I am a local artist who originally graduated in art and graphic design at Stockport College. After I married I went to live in the Middle East and was there for 20 years. It was here that I developed an appreciation and love for Islamic art, ceramics and pottery. I spent time at the Abu Dhabi pottery creating many pieces with an Arabic theme.
Having now returned to the North West of England, I sculpt figurative pieces of people and animals. The inspiration for my animals is from my love of wildlife and the countryside. I am currently experimenting with camels following on from my time in the Gulf. My figures are often ‘larger than life’ characters; a cross between Les Dawson’s fat woman and the characters in the Andy Capp comic strip.
I also throw both decorative and functional pots on the wheel.
